:: Track 3
Dirty Three: Sea Above, Sky Below (6 mins 04 secs) Album: Ocean Songs Touch & Go 193
BACKGROUND
These three songs are performed by musicians from different parts of the world with very different musical backgrounds:
* Badawi was born in Israel and combines Bedouin music with dance/ambient;
* Uakti is a quartet from Brasil, trained in classical music, they play now athmosperic world music with self-made instruments like PVC-tubes.
* The Dirthy Three are from Australia and they play instrumental, violin based, melancholic rock music.
Despite these differences, the songs share a mellow, mesmerizing and etherean quality, which does not turn them into new age or elevator music, because in the songs there is a strong drive, caused either by an on-ongoing beat(Badawi, Uakti) or haunting violin-playing (Dirty Three). I recommend that you play the music at the end of your show, because it is terrific music to hear before you go to sleep. I have chosen for this order, because the songs gradually descend in complexity, full- and tightness. Enjoy!
