BACKGROUND
This may at first glance appear to be a sentimental - even slightly sickly - combination, but the first and last tracks both feature female vocalists followed by substantial instrumental sections which take the songs in a different direction. Wesseltoft's piano on track 1 spins "...Tramp" into a glacial area which Rogers and Hart probably wouldn't want to visit, and (ex Belle and Sebastian) Campbell's determined innocence appears at odds with the unconventional instrumental caveat she provides towards the end of the song. Tracks from "Solid Air" are still played relatively often, but this one, which arguably captures the desolate quality of the record more completely and compactly than better known songs such as "I'd Rather Be The Devil" and "Solid Air" itself, deserves to be heard more often.

These pieces are rather like the ones that I have listened before, but the sensitivity of each song is something that I have not met in my comperatively little music experience. Nice picks. Thanks.

Having read the reasons for your choices, Mike, I seem to have a little background knowledge about each track (being a fan of B&S, Martyn .. and Hart in particular)but have not yet heard any of them. You've tempted me to delve further .. so I will. Thanks.
