:: Track 3

Steve Reich / Kronos Quartet: Different Trains - movement three "After the War" (10mins 20secs)
Album: Different Trains
Elektra / nonesuch 7559791762

BACKGROUND
Three pieces about the aftermath of battles / war. The first an unnaccompanied traditional song, about The Battle of Waterloo -- followed by a beautiful, violin-led arrangement of another folk song, Three Ravens, which is told from a raven's point of view! Again the woman bears the worst of it. This nicely links into the strings of "different trains" a bitter/sweet yet optomistic piece of music about the end of the Jewish holocaust, showing that there can always be hope.
