Tom Waits: How's It Gonna End (4 mins 51 secs)
Album: Real Gone
Anti 6678-2

BACKGROUND
Noelenn Brehed is a traditional Breton spritual that is often associated with Christmas, but has an endurng all-year-round appeal. This is a very powerful version by Le Groupe Penven. Staying with France, the wonderful 16th Century air de cour appears on an uplifting CD of Anthoine Boesset compositions, but this addictive coda to the CD has an anonymous author. The very modern plucked rhythmic backing is uncannily reminiscent of Tom Waits at his most recently playful. How's It Gonna End, from his latest CD, also has that alluring dragged feel to its accompaniment. The vocal couldn't contrast more sharply, though.
