My theme here is that in what seems a time of proliferating unusual acoustic stringed instruments it's good to reminded how far you can reach with the old favourites. This thought came to mind when after a Summer of bouzoukis, mandocellos and citterns around the Leeds and Bradford acoustic venues we were visited by Rotherham's stunning guitarist-singer-songwriter Julie Ellison. To get the selection underway there's a Roumanian fiddle and voice track from the gypsy supergroup Taraf de Haidouks and to finish an instrumental piece from the Nashville-based Johnny Staats Project, his mandolin lead being in the company of guitar, fiddle, banjo and bass.
