BACKGROUND
A melancholic journey thanks to lute and harp early music. The first piece is a 14th century ballad played on a medieval harp by the ensemble Bois de Cologne. This is followed by 18th century Italian lute music by Scarlatti. Finally, a piece from music composed by Lemetre for a play based on a 15th century Chinese tale that ends in a tragic flood. If I'm not mistaken, Lemetre is playing a pipa, a chinese equivalent of the european lute.
