BACKGROUND
These are three amazing women's voices, with contemporary takes on very traditional material spanning (in recording dates) 30 years: the first is c. 1968, the second 1995 and the third 1997. All are timeless. The dates of the original material, as far as I can tell, are 12th century (the composer of the first, Raimbaut de Vaqueiras, died in 1207), 16th century and late 20th century. All three are celebrating Spring.
I don't know if Jantina Noorman is still extant - there's not much info about her available. Everyone seems to agree that hers is one of the most remarkable voices ever. Long overdue for re-release.
Sara Stowe is definitely still around and performing, and Lucill Galeazzi, by coincidence, is part of the wonderful Arpeggiata that you're playing this week.
On La Banda, there are only 4 tracks, the second of which is Tra la Folla. The whole track is 20.57 minutes, but I'm only suggesting the third part here, which is 3.47 long (the whole thing is worth playing if you have time).
I've actually mislaid my lovely Sirinu - probably lent it to someone - so I'm not quite sure how long the track is.

Eelco Schilder, the editor-in-chief of the Dutch magazine New Folk Sounds (of which I am text editor) searched and found Jantina. His interview with her will appear in the upcoming festive #100 issue of the magazine.

Yes, I cherish my Jantina Noorman LPs. Her vocal style, a meld between Middle Eastern women's singing and Chaucer's Madame Eglantine, is the perfect instrument for her rendition, with Musica Reservata, of "Kalenda Maya." Thank you for loving her, too!
