Viktoria Westin Building:
Lawn Road flats Location: Belsize Park, London What is your relationship to this building?:
I first came across this building when hearing a programme about it on Swedish radio. The next time I went to London (before moving here) I went to see it, and there it was, like a big white ship in the middle of an area cramped with Victorian terraced houses that all looked the same. It was absolutely amazing!
Why do you love this building?:
I love the period when it was built, and the history of the house; Agatha Christie lived there, together with Henry Moore, Walter Gropius and several other important persons of that time. I also love the idea of the house, people living in their own flats but having common areas in the building, like the Iso bar for instance, a famous jazz bar. It's a fascinating building, and I hope that someone will take care of it eventually.
