Adam Thompson Building:
Horniman Museum Location:
Forest Hill, South London What is your relationship to this building?:
I was one of the builders who built it Why do you love this building?:
As a South London Child I often visited the Horniman Museum, it was wonderful. However I never realised that there were also wonderful gardens attached. The front entrance was on to the horrible London Road part of the South Circular not the garden.
The Centre for Understanding the Environment was built both as further exhibition space for the museum but also as a link to the gardens. On the day we completed the ground floor I realised this would be a success because it elevates you to the adjacent herb garden.
Internally the building is wonderfully light and airy.
I feel very proud to have been involved with this project and always drop into the building when I am going through South London.
