The Darkness reinvent glam rock, the White Stripes release Seven Nation Army, , Dizzee Rascal wins the £20,000 Mercury Music Prize, a British jazz-soul boom launched Jamie Cullum and Amy Winehouse, Apple iTunes Music Store is launched.

Diana. Cheshire Because 2004 was the year that Keane really made it with their album Hopes & Fears, after years of struggling in small venues. Their sucess is richly deserved and has brought their wonderful music to so many people, who share my admiration for them!
Big Dawg from Da Hood I pick 2000's because of Keane, Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand + Coldplay. Not forgetting Puussycat/Dresden Dolls + Robbie Williams! Yep, 2000's rock. 90's scare me *shudders* :p BUT 70's rocked too, of course :)
Gaz, Bournemouth 2005 - because of the Arcade Fire, seeing Nick Cave at Ally Pally in August, Antony & the Johnsons being the only great band to win the Mercury Prize since Primal Scream, the Kaiser Chiefs trying to be Blur circa '92, bless 'em. Oh, and the Gorillaz album. The only downsides of 2005 is that it's had The Darkness in it, as well as another boring Oasis album.
Annabelle Tipper, Kings Lynn Hopes and Fears by Keane was released in 2004 and, in my opinion, it is the best debut album by any band ever. The band combine fantastic melodies with heartfelt lyrics and Tom Chaplin has such a beautiful voice. I would also pick the 2000's as my decade of choice because of great albums by singer-songwriters such as James Blunt and Tom Baxter. Another highlight of the decade has been the success of Coldplay, who just keep going from strength to strength.

Guy Leeds The best of the summer festivals i have ever been to were held in 2000's. Not to mention live 8 the bit where bono released those doves.And Tiesto's set during the opeing cermony of the olymipics. spine tingling moments that i will remember for ever.
