Losing my Religion
Its a haunting thought provoking beautiful song that makes you think wow after hearing it.

Losing My Religion
Am looking for DVD footage of concert - I'd love someone to help me!

Leaving New York
The best !!!!! Just Love it !!!!!!

Leaving New York
I just love r.e.m. All their songs are great, I could listen to 'Everybody Hurts', 'Shinny Happy People', 'Leaving New York' again and again. I am a mature art student and just love the graphics in the videos. More songs please R.E.M. Lynda in Hampshire

it's the end of the world as we know it
they are the best bad ever they have so much depth in there songs and there music is great for any emotional state you may be in

LEAVING IN NEW YORK
I NEED THE LYRICS

Walk unafraid
By far the best song I have ever heard Michael Stipe sing is their version of dark globe from "the automatic box" that song is what makes REM the stars they are and always will be Lindsey Buist

walk unafraid
I think their best song of all time is so. central rain however this comes a close second, stipes voice is nothing short of heavenly Lindsey Buist

Leaving New York
Best band in the world along with U2,they should form a supergroup "REU2M", go on the lads!!

Anton McConville
We saw R.E.M in Ottawa and their concert left a big impression. From the setlist above, 'Imitation of Life' would be a favourite. From the concert we saw, 'Find the River' has remained an inspiration. Their support act - Joseph Arthur is well worth checking out too - 'In the Sun' is a great song.

Janette Leonard
From the list, E-bow the letter for its emotion. Overall, my favourite track has to be Fall on Me (not sure why!).

losing my religion
i wish they would do everybody hurts at their gig its class

Shiny Happy People
I think "out of time" is their best album.

Kate
As a huge R.E.M. fan I could not possibly choose one. All of their songs are as equally as good as each other.

andyroo
Walk Unafraid.Totally awesome example of what live music is all about,a unique sound in a unique environment, well done REM/Radio2.

Lenka Styblova
Hi! Well I saw R.E.M. last night in Boston and guess what?! They played "The One I Love" for Red Sox! What a night!! I can't believe our luck! It's the same like Thom York singing "E-Bow The Letter"! Which brings me back to your Q? well it has to be "E-Bow The Letter"...but I really love "Boy In The Well"! Take care guys and thanks for your music!!!!

Riccardo from Milan
I missed to hear "Make it all ok" though... Great REM: I loved listening to Leaving New York. Thanks Radio2!

Miguel
Impossible to choose really...for a concert I always want "It's the end of the world..."

brian Clarke
great show, they just keep getting better!

Lenka Styblova
And also....I'm gonna see them TONIGHt in Boston,MA,USA. I can't wait. Just another good one is Boy In The Well!!How could I forget?xxx

Lenka Styblova
Hi!I'd say it must be E-Bow The Letter. But there are so many awesome songs....Animal, Imitation Of Life and the new one Leaving New York. So it not easy! Who'd disagree that WE LOVE THEM ALL??? Hey?xxxx

Maria Mesias
Walk Unafraid

Ruth Lyons
Leaving New York is a new favorite. It`s brilliant. Apart from that I stick to the old songs; Man On The Moon, Loosing My Religion, Aftermath, I Wanted To Be Wrong. Imitation Of Life is going to be a strong song in the coming year. I love that song too.

aftermath
simply a great show

C Wood
E-Bow The Letter

Tempus Fugit
Heh, made a comment before forgot to put my name, Anyway Leave is by far R.E.M.'s best song. Of the list, i'd have to say E-Bow

Bianca
It would take me less time to say which songs I don't like...none! Texarkana is one of the best - Mike's voice is amazing! Top 10: 1)Fall On Me 2)Turn You Inside-Out 3)Monty got A Raw Deal 4)Star 69 5)Near Wild Heaven 6)Leave 7)Walk Unafraid 8) The One I Love 9)Bittersweet Me 10) So. Central Rain. Fave of the setlist: Animal and Losing My Religion! A big hello from Malta to all REM fans!!! :-)

Kate
As a massive R.E.M. fan I cannot possibly choose my favorite song. To me they are all equally as good as each other.

E-Bow The Letter
Fine set by a fine band. Hope to see them next summer.

Elizabeth from California
Losing my Relgion is a classic and I like the video also. I love all REM songs, but especially "At my most Beautiful" I can play that one over and over.

ebow the letter
more old songs, less new songs! play hairshirt! play king of birds! play everything off chronic town! if they're gonna play new stuff play i've been high or electrolite. the best live is country feedback.

Martin
Walk Unafraid because it's not easy to go against the flow. E-Bow The Letter because it flows.

Roger Dickenson
My favorite REM song is "Whats the Frequency, Kenneth," and it didnt make the set. Oh well, long live Dan Rather

carmen
E-Bow the letter or country feedback live - send tingles up my spine like nothing else can, classics

sally
Losing my religion - Its a classic, what can you say?

Lewis Wright
This has to be the all - time greatest R.E.M song, theres so much feeling and emotion gone in to it.

Losing my religion
VERRY BIG FAN LOVE THE MANDOLIN PLAYING IN ALL THERE MUSIC

E-Bow the Letter and Walk Unafraid
Sorry difficult to pick just one favourite from set list. The new tracks were excellent too. I was lucky enough to be at the show on the night and it was amazing!

Bian1
'I never though of this as funny. It speaks another world to me'. I'd spend less time saying which ones I don't like...none! Texarkana rules - Mike's voice is just breathtaking! I Believe is the best of all! Fave of the setlist - ABSOLUTELY Losing My Religion!! that's me in the corner... A big hello to all REM fans from Malta - ahna tal-buzz!!

man on the moon
where is everybody hurts?

Nurjehan
All of the songs on the setlist are absolutely brilliant!!! One song that would definately stand out is 'Final Straw'. I'm sure this song is partly talking about/to George W. Bush, as it is an anti - war song. This song is absolutely excellent! All the songs from their 'Around The Sun' album are just so brilliant, no songs on the CD do not have to be skipped!!! As always, Losing My Religion shows the brilliance of the band, they can cause such a roar with this song. What can I say, honestly, I love every song on the setlist! P.S. Leaving New York is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! A truly LOVELY, LOVELY, LOVELY SONG! I AM TOO A ONE OF R.E.M.'S BIGGEST FANS EVER!!!

Marianne Farish
I love 'she just wants to be' and wanderlust so it would have been nice if Radio 2 hadn't cut big chunks out of the session! skipping from 'Boy in the well' to 'I wanted to be wrong'. I know the session would have lasted longer than an hour then but so!!! If you've gone to great lengths to get REM to play an intimate gig then just play the whole thing it would have just been another 20 mins or so anyway!! I am thankful that we get to listen at all, so thankyou for putting REM on the radio!

Glynn Jones
Everybody Hurts was such a piece of brilliance it can't really be beaten, but from their new album, I think that Leaving New York is a great new tune with nice lyrics! Go REM!

SO FAST SO NUMB
SO FAST, SO NUMB: SO POWERFUL,SO MOVING. GETS BETTER AND BETTER EVERYTIME I HEAR IT....BUT I AGREE WITH "D" THEIR BEST SONG FOR A LONG TIME IS "THE OUTSIDERS" FROM THE NEW ALBUM (BETH, OXFORD)

Bad Day
Its genius. Its a newer one and although it would be easy to pick the classics i thought i would add some new age materail to the debate. I love this cause its a cold hard look at the world and its so accurate also. Its the one song about a bad day that makes you feel so good after you heard it. Genius.

Kevin Potts
So Fast So Numb - a brilliant and highly under rated track from New Adventures in Hi-Fi although Stipe didn't need to shout the end of each line! Superbly constructed and great to listen to throughout.

gilberto carlos
On this list it has to be E-Bow The Letter. It's just a beautiful song, from the less widely known but every bit as good New Adventures in HiFi album. However, Walk Unafraid is also a giant track, and what about Everybody Hurts, The One I Love, Fall On Me and Disappear to name just four of their incredible repertoire. One of the best bands of all time.

raleig
just a beautiful song, from the less widely known but every bit as good New Adventures in HiFi album.

Ian Gilmore
From the set list Losing My Religion but Fretless, Leave and World Leader Pretend are faves of mine

marianne farish
its so difficult to decide which is my favourite from such a good set list. I love e-bow the letter and she just wants to be, but losing my religion is the all time classic. and I think the new album is great, especially leaving new york and wanderlust thanks for airing the concert!

BOY IN THE WELL
BEST SONG ON THE NEW CD AND NOT A POPULAR CHOICE AS I CAN SEE FROM BELOW. BUT THAT IS ME AND THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN REM - OFF THE BEATEN PATH.

Nick - Leaving New york
Brilliant track - from a yorkshire lad, who loves New york

Imitation of Life.
Brill tune and lyrics. Performed as usual with excellence.Keep them coming R E M.John Farrell.Canterbury.Kent.

Imitation of Life.
Brill tune and lyrics. Performed as usual with excellence.Keep them coming R E M.John Farrell.Canterbury.Kent.

Russ Fox
absolutely brilliant performance as usual... unmistakeable voice of michael stipe never faulters... band on top form, a well deserved no.1 album. can't wait to see them live next year.

Man on the moon
I love this song as it very clever biography of Andy Kaufmann in a song. My favourite music video is for Losing My Religion as its really mad.

Kevin
I thought 'I Wanted to be Wrong" was superb. Great melody, Stipe's voice amazing as always and a very accurate portrail of the view a lot of people have about the war in Iraq.

andres acosta from venezuela
my favorite song is Aftermath. toward a lot of time that r.e.m. not toward such a similar song to their albums with bill berry and there is not doubt that leaving new york is very beautiful I am of venezuela I am the fan I number 1....

martin campion
All good-but why no 'animal' on the streamed show?

Kurt
A belgian fan - Walk unafraid is the best song of the concert, it is for me the best song of the latest 3 albums. Kurt

Gary
from the gig it has to be E-Bow the letter, with Thom Yorke it was just amazing. how come no newcastle date on the tour

Broona
Song of the set, Walk Unafraid, loved it the first time I heard it, and still a favourite now. Can't wait for February, Sheffield here we come! :)

E-Bow The Letter
I didn't think this song could be more beautiful, then I heard Thom Yorke sing on the chorus.

Imitation of Life
All tracks are just class...Lookin forward to Cardiff 95...hope to have more tracks from New adventures in Hifi..Bitter sweet is just true REM. Clive.

Animal
I love REM and saw them at Glastonbury in 2003. I am going to see them again next June too! I think animal is probably one of REM's greatest songs because it is so raw and powerful, and unlike any other REM song. Brilliant. Rob Barstow. :)

Jung
Wanderlust, The outsiders, Leaving New York, and Aftermath.....just fabulous !

Tor Begg
Man On The Monn, it is such a great song, when you feel happy of miserable, it gives u everything! wow!

Jane
Boy in the Well The words are great. But I like the whole album, especially Leaving New York, but I thought Michael was a bit flat on that one! Tired voice. Great concert.

losing my religion
wow! what a dancer too

Everybody hurts
I love R.E.M Thank-you for having them on your radio!!!

Its the end of the world as we know it
Pure genius, especially live, annoyed they've cut it from their set, but they're still amazing live , the best band in the world with some of the best songs ever written

Dale
imitation of life has to be best video but all sonds fantastic cant wait to see them again in manchester next year

Imitation of Life
It descibes how I feel about life, just watching the things people do and say daily. Culture is strange indeed.

Alex Rogers
My favourite REM song is Leaaving New York. Its a brilliant piece of music, and really cleverly written. Its beautiful, and can really stir up emotions.

graham hearsey
losing my religion.wheres everybody hurts and bad day.cant wait to see them live

Sam Ryder
From the set list it has to be Losing My Religion, an anthem if there ever was one. However, 'Its the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)' Has to be the best REM track of all time, and document second only to automatic as far as albums are concerned. See you all in Hull!

E-Bow The Letter
Always a great song. Even better with Patti Smith's backing vocals!

Scotty
so fast, so numb is my favourite, but i agree with "D", they should have included "The Outsiders" - its a brilliant song!

Mateja
Wanderlust!! It's difficult to choose but right now I would say wanderlust, cause I can't settle down and start to live "real life". Currently Wanderlust is my way of life, so I was touched by the song the first time I heard it.

Leaving New York
This song blew me away

Tony Donaldson
Too many mentions of the obvious Losing My Religion or Man on the Moon. There are other songs. Anything from New Adventures, Lotus, The Lifting, These Days, Begin the Begin. I must say that Around the Sun is very much a grower but Electron Blue is immense. Don't think much of The Outsiders though...poor.

I Wanted to Be wrong
Its just such a great song

Andrea
E-Bow The Letter - I have so wanted to hear this track live - well worth the wait. Two other tracks I love to hear live are So Fast, So Numb & Walk Unafraid.

I wanted to be wrong
It is a gooe reflextion on the war in iraq, while still having that sleepy meloncoly theme that is dark, while enlighteningly chilled.

Rodrigo Garcia
Hi, I live in Mexico and Im very happy that the great band R.E.M is coming to play on December 2004.From the set list So fast so numb is one of my favorites but in general all the songs are very good. Good nights and days to everyone¡

CHRONIC TOWN
PRIVILEGED INFO IS ALL IT COULD BE.I FELT THE ALBUM ON A PERSONAL LEVEL. JEFF

THE GREAT BEYOND
R.E.M. WOULD HAVE LOVED PERFORMING FOR THE PIKES AT MILLSAPS COLLEGE 1984-1986 IN JACKSON,MS.SHANGRA-LA BIG TIME.

LEAVING NEW YORK
I'VE BEEN A R.E.M. FAN SINCE CHRONIC TOWN.AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER I'VE OWNED EVERY ALBUM THEY HAVE PUT OUT EXCEPT AROUND THE SUN.NO UNO DE NIRO YET.

Losing My Religion
Such a classic!!!

So. Central Rain
This song cahangesed my life in terms of the music i listen to. Surely i'm not the only one. Hats oof to the othe who have picked Wendel Gee and Don't go back....

The One
I am a Animal who likes to Walk Unafraid Around The Sun,like a Man On The Moon not Losing My Religion while Leaving New York So Fast, So Numb ah well like a Boy In The Well oh oh oh my Wanderlust...I Wanted To Be Wrong so i sent E-Bow The Letter but She Just Wants To Be i hold on to my Final Straw and enjoying the good old play of Imitation Of Life...Aftermath!

Man on the Moon
hard to choose from all their great songs, always a memorable performance

dave
losing my religon, brilliant. seeing them @ hull next year can`t wait

Imitation of Life
Wondeful!!

Rosa Luz Machado
I am brazilian and i think R.E.M. is the best band in the world. My favorite songs of this setlist are Losing my religion, Leaving New York and all the other. I love R.E.M. so much. I love Michael Stipe!

Leaving New York
Brooneyedgal - really excited listening to this show....can't wait 'till Loch Lomand...yous guys rock,...

brooneyedgal - Imitation Of Life/Leaving New York
so excited listening to this show , right now, wow, gonna see you guys in Loch Lomand, your the best......'till then..

Wanderlust
Best song from the new album!

Itz
Impossible to choice!!I love so many of them...losing my religion.. makes me remember about an impossible love preparing for my degree... See u in Hyde Park!!!

Helen
Heard Tongue in Manchester 2002. Have heard them do Fall on me too ....amazing. Would like "Try not to Breathe " from AFTP and "Ignoreland" and "let me In" from Monster:) they did that on the fan club Xmas single one year :) so good. I too like "The Outsiders"...the whole album is good. and...they havent finished with ITEOTWAWKI !!!!!

so fast so numb :)
They did this at Move festival in manchester last year when I was at the front....and...touched stipe:) and got lyric sheet to drive. Am going to Sheffield London and manchester next year. can't wait:) great concert!!!! You are NEVER too old to be a REM fan joan!!!! Never!!! Helen

Camera
So, Noirista back, and I've reconsidered. Camera from "Reckoning" is just a terrific, moody piece. I love that 'wall of guitar' era with R.E.M., but I"m not a snob that only likes their eps and early lps (much as I do love Chronic Town and Radio Free Europe and Seven Chinese Brothers and So. Central Rain and I Believe etc.). I think Be Mine off of New Adventures in Hi-Fi, which is a modern fave album of mine, is just a gorgeous love song. And I think Mike Mills never sung better in the albums since Life's Rich Pageant. Mmmmm. Let's just say REM never fails to bring out my inner musician and dazzle her, nor do they fail to touch me with their beautiful or spot-on cutting lyrics (like with Animal or So Fast So Numb). Just love this band. Glad they're superstars -- without the attitude.

Renée Guillory aka Noirista
Hard to say, but "She Just Wants to Be" really speaks to me right now since I've been leaving one part of my life behind and growing rather painfully yet enthusiastically into a more wonderful part of my life! I also love REMs collaborations with Patti Smith.

Mat Curtis
My favourite tune (currently!) is 'Boy in the well', the perfect, touching, sweet epitaph to my relationship with my beautiful former partner Julia... xxx

gavin eves
E BOW THE LETTER. if i could have chosen two songs the other would be so fast so numb. both songs are taken from the new adventures album which seemed to be critically ignored because it was recorded on the road and not 'properly' in a studio. the bands finest album.

Anne from Cumbria
From the setlist, I Wanted To Be Wrong, love this song! Overall favourite live R.E.M. song: Life & How To Live It

Walk Unafraid
Amazing full stop

Wanderlust
great bouncy track "i brushed against confusion!" Phil Leeds

Rob Hoban
Ebow the letter & Leaving New York. Country feedback my overall favourite tho!

The Outsiders
That song is ace! and i'm off to see them in July at the KC Stadium... i think this album appeals to younger people more than others...

ann
e-bow the letter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

E-Bow the Letter
New advestures is such a great album, with not a single bad song on the record, would be cool iof they played Leave live

Aftermath
It's a very beautiful fantastic song of the new album

Volkan Ince
My faourite R.E.M. song losing my religion.Eery R.E.M. songs are perfect...

Losing My Religion
My favourite song period. Often mis-interpreted, this simple yet complex song about losing faith in people, ideas, dreams, conveys a feeling most people have and/or will expirience at some point in their life.

Andrew McCulloch
I think Walk Unafraid is an absolutely awesome, and I am looking forward to tonight's concert tremendously.

Losing my religion
The album "Out Of Time" is really the best!

Daniel Saaba
Man on the moon

marian
From the new album Wanderlust is my favorite. But all the other songs are also ferry good. I am a real, real REM fan and there are just a view songs I don't like. I can't wait till february, then REM gives a concert in the Ahoy in Rotterdam. Afcourse I will be there!!!!!!!!!

Ian
She Just Wants To Be... when it's played live it's awesome.

Anita Britt
Difficult choice, as usual. But from that setlist I think the best one is E-Bow the letter, especially the performance with Thom Yorke. Unbelievable! I was so lucky to be there on the night, an amazing show! Thanks Michael, Mike, Peter and Bertis!!

Rob Taylor
Quite a "new" setlist. I'm a big fan and would have liked to have seen some older material like "Country Feedback", "Perfect circle" or "End of the world". Awesome setlist still!!! Quality.

Ana
Losing my religion is their best song, it´s the best song ever recorded! I can´t wait to see them on 8th January in Madrid!!!

losing my religion
this is beautiful song. i can't say why it is , but i cry when I hear this song.

Jenny Nguyen
I don't really have a favorite R.E.M. song because they are all so good. But, I do have favorites and they include "Animal", "Imitation of Life" and "Losing my Religion." R.E.M. is the best band ever and what they do is beautiful.

Andrew Craig
Their best songs are: Final Straw, Imitation Of Life, Ignoreland, Fall On Me, Around The Sun, Great Beyond, Let Me In, Crazy, Leave, World Leader Pretend, Me In Honey. I think those are their all-time ten best songs they ever preformed. Those songs are fantastic!

E-Bow the letter
An absolutely amazing and truly poetic song. The words just flow, and Patti Smith's wail resonates over my soul. She's so powerful. I love this song. Imitation of Life is a close second. New cd is disappointing except for ascent of man, which I see isnt on the playlist.

Man on the moon
All of REM are my favourites, how can one choose , fantastic band, fantastic music a credit to the music industry.

Bitterswet me
Its very cool from Travis

Bren
I Wanted To Be Wrong, (and I am) Wishing time away, roll on February 2005.

Leaving New York
Katherine Edwards. Stunning new track - not my favourite from the Around the Sun album (That would be either The Ascent of Man or Make it All Okay) - but still an absolute classic. Loved the layering of voices, it works so well.

tongue
Not heard ever on radio - beautiful song

Thomas Ritter
Final Straw

Leaving New York
This is a fantastic song - one of those that as soon as I heard it on the radio it made me smile; the words "I love you" always reminds me of Jesus's love for us. A wonderful piece of music.

Nightswimming
Beautiful

man on the moon
AMAZING! + mike stipe is my hero. He is everything I wanna be.

leaving new york
lyrical genious stipe but fave all time track is the live version of country feedback marvelous

Losing my religion
Big Jase Parr (fanatical fan). The best group, this is my favourite track (especially to sing at karaoke) although i think they are all superb. Have all there cd's and dvd's and they are all excellent, how can you not like there music, so much feeling and meanings in there lyrics. Cant wait until next June when i will be seeing them live again.

D
That's an amazing setlist, out of it my favourite has to be "Losing My Religion", but I can't believe they left out "The Outsiders" from "Around The Sun" It's such a brilliant song.

Aftermath
Quite simply one of the best songs that REM have come up with in recent years. Beautiful and Relevent. Then again there is Around teh Sun and She just wants to be.. Screw it. They are all fantastic!!

man on the moom , leaving new yourk
I'm from Argentina , English teacher by the way , and I truly really enoy your programmes , a way of improving my listenings skills with you , your music an your great sense of humor every morning from this side of the world. carolina

mon on the mmon
wheres "everybody hurts", thats got to be one of the all time great songs, it came out just after my mum died and helped me through the worst moment in my life

Simon Haddow
this song just blows me away everytime i hear it, i seen the band at t in the park last year where they plays the So Fast, So Numb from New Adventures wow!!! what a track. Carnt wait for Loch Lomond. Si!

John hawkins
My favorite on this list is Man on the Moon, just for the Elvis impression and the fact its a tight rockin song. Second would be Losing My religon as this CD is in my opinion the most complete REM from indie to major lable success.

Jon.Bellini
Ithink Losing My Religion is a very cool song.and has many connotations for me. Thanks Jonathan Bellini

Little Cullen
Out of the setlist? i think Man on the Moon, but Losing my religion is a classic, they both are. infact, losing my religion is the first song that i ever remember singing, (was about 2 when the out of time album was released) and haven't stopped singing them since.

darren
Leaving new york As it reminds me many times how i left my fiancee and had to come home via new york :(

James Hoff
Leaving New York True R.E.M Style. Keep 'em coming.

Joan
I only 'discovered' REM about a year ago, dont ask, must have been in a cave, although at 51 I hope I can be forgiven! Anyway I purchased Perfect Square and was blown away with the energy Michael Stipe put in to each track, I now have quite a collection and plan to go to Hyde Park next summer. Favourites have to be Find the River, Electron Blue from the new cd,superb track, and Animal, but hey! they are all great, the list could go on and on.

Katie
The best tune of the night was Animal.....fantastic to jump about to!

Sunny
E-bow the letter and Aftermath.

Lorraine
I have many, many favourites. Hearing REM sing Everybody Hurts live has always been the most emotional experience at a live show. Love the band so much, i'm off to see them in New York next month.....can't wait!!

Steven Lawton
Leaving New York, it's my song of the year!

Guzzmonster
"Man On The Moon" It really has turned into a bona fide REM classic, and i also love Mike Mills backing vocals on the live version.......... Roll on Hammersmith in Feb !!!

Janice Gennery
E-Bow the letter

Daniel Humphreys
1.Country Feedback 2.E-bow the Letter 3.I believe 4.New test leaper 5.Night Swimming 6.Camera 7.Walk unafraid 8.She just wants to be 9.Its the end of the world as we know it 10.You

Bren
Walk unafraid - one of many favourites but would love to hear Strange Currencies played at sheffield. Maybe it's in the stars...........

Martin Saxon
Boring answer, but it really does have to be Losing My Religion for me as it is the best song ever recorded. Leaving New York is R. E. M. at their anthemic best, and during their illustrious career I've also loved Carnival Of Sorts, Fall On Me, Pop Song 89, Find The River, How The West Was Won And Where It Got Us, At My Most Beautiful and I'll Take The Rain.

Barney Netherwood
Having not heard the new stuff, fave from the set has to be E-Bow the letter, what a track! Fave track ever remains as Country feedback, i defy you not to cry!!!

Iain (again!)
Oh and after a re-read of the question! from the actual show itself? "She Just Wants To Be" does it most nights ;) Apologies for typo in "talk"

Iain
A few. "These Days", "Tak About The Passion", "Harborcoat", "Drive" & "Sad Professor" and also the newbie title song "Around the Sun", nice minor/major chord changes.

Andrew
Wendell Gee - what a great song that is!

jay
e-bow The Letter has to be the favourite from the set. Be Mine has to be one of the best songs they've written.

Losing My Religion
Just one of my all time great songs By REM Taken from the best Album,Automatic For The People :) Loving the new song Leaving New York :)

Dan
E-Bow the letter

Geoff Ireland
Imitation Of Life, Great track

Losing My Religion
Having followed REM since almost the beginning, having seen them in 1985/6 at Barrowlands, Glasgow and more recently at Stirling Castle and T in The Park, it was absolutely wonderful to be winner in Radio 2 Competition for REM tickets for St James' Church - so atmospheric. Unbelievable to see them in such a small venue. Returned from Italy to Glasgow, and then straight on to London for this gig. Totally knackered but worth it - well worth it. Look forward to seeing REM in Glasgow in February, and at Loch Lomond in June next year. Thanks to REM and Radio 2 for a really good time, and for so much musical inspiration - and yes it was a real gig.

kenny Gilchrist
Has to be Man on the moon but electrolite is ace, how come that is not on the play list ? Kenny

rew
I think when people are in need of comfort, alcohol or chocolate are to bad, I just put on REM and I feel a lift, a promise and I know they will never let anyone down.

Simon Shanks
Losing my Religion. A timeless classic !

Iain G Lamond
She Just Wants To Be, Loosing My Religion & Walk Unafraid.

Jan Howard
Losing My Religion really class song.

Jackie Hamer
Losing my religion is my favourite REM track.

man on the moon
Great interview. Concert sounded great

Losing My Religion
What a wonderful tune with meaningful words, all perfectly formed into a 4 minute song. The style can only be REM

Walk Unafraid
Their difficult album, post Bill Berry's departure, but a wonderful song, a song to stand tall to, whatever's thrown at us! But from what I've heard I think some of the new songs will be favourites too.

Laura Molle
I was a lucky fan-club member who got to see this show from the 2nd row. I also won tickets which i gave to my daughter and her boyfriend. So hard to choose a fave song. Probably Walk Unafraid..closely followed by She Just Wants To Be, E-Bow The Letter and Boy In The Well. Fantastic evening. Thanks very much.

Esmee de Braal
Man on the moon

Steven, north london
i can't believe they played 'walk unafraid'. i can't wait for the 23rd to hear the concert on radio 2!

Iain G Lamond
I really love REM early stuff. Do you think they could play Don't Go Back To Rockville, Driver 8, Cuyahoga, Exuhuming McCarthy, Fall On Me, Talk About The Passion, Gardening At Night... I could go on, but you get the gist of the style I am talking about. I especially love Don't Go Back To Rockville and Driver 8. Also, there is an excellent live medley of Time After Time, Red Rain and So. Central Rain on the single for It's The End OF The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine).

Alastair Pamphilon
Although the choice is many and the group is great, here is my choice for the Radio 2 session: 1) 1,000,000 2) Talk about the passion 3) Time after Time 4) Can't get there from here 5) Begin the begin 6) The one I love 7) Get up!! lazy. 8) The last track on Green,"This world is big-and so awake-I stay up late-to hear your voice-this light is here-to keep you warm-this song is here-to keep you strong.. 9) Low 10) Monty got a raw deal 11) King of Comedy 12) Bittersweet me 13) Hope 14) The Great Beyond 15) She just want's to be 16) Animal 17) Leaving New York

The One I Love, just classic R.E.M. sends a chill down yer spine!

STAND
This song introduced me to R.E.M when I was a moody 15 year old needing music to help identify myself. Green will always be the most special album to me.

I caught a show about R.E.M once and they covered this song and it was such a fantastic version - it's great to see such a huge band still in touch with the music that has influenced them throughout the years and not afraid to pay homage - keep it up guys!

World leader pretend

Binnie
Just got the tickets to see REM in London on 19th February 2005!! At last! I saw REM in 89 in Milan for the Green tour. Fantastic! Way too much time in between, but circumstances (and childbirth) meant I couldn't see them in London in June 1999. I love all their songs, but I prefer the old ones. I'd love to hear So. Central Rain, The one I love, Country Feedback, Carnival of sorts (box cars), Perfect circle, At my most beautiful, but anything they choose to play will be great. Thank you so much for the last 23 years. Hope you can continue to play for many more, so that we can grow old together.

NAIHF is a brilliant album!

Wendell Gee
.....some good 'ole country folk from a great time,by the greatest band. Its all been said by the other contributors, but the emotion behind the heavenly crafted songs, make R.E.M the band that resonate and that will survive long long after they are gone.

Paul N
"Superman" or "Disturbance at the Heron House" Both great tunes that i've not heard in ages!

Flor Van der Eycken

(well, there are so many songs I'd love you to play, I understand you can't satisfy all the requests of your fans, but I'll try..) .."The Wrong Child"??? Fall on Me
Too many choices but this is one of my all time favourites. Stephen Reilly, Glasgow

Matt
World Leader Pretend from "Green". Why? My favorite song, My feeling, my life... Rarely played. "I've a rich understanding of my finest defenses..."

Josh Robinson
You should definitely play Pop Song 89. My question is for Mr. Stipe: What is your interpretation of the song, Orange Crush?

Fall on Me or Cuyahoga
I took a Greyhound across America & Canada last year...these songs were my companions & were part of the soundtrack to the most beautiful summer of my life... Thankyou REM. David (London,England).

Kirsty
I'd love to hear Disappear played live. Last year I saw them perform all my favourties except this one.

I would love R.E.M. to perform Hope for 'Up'. Never heard them perform it live before so would be good.

Amanita
Flowers of Guatemala (Amanita is the name...) I think this song has never been performed live before and as I see this song as a tribute to MYESELF (thanks Michael), please play it for me! I love you guys! see you tonight!

Leave (acoustic)
I'd love to hear Leave done acoustically. I love the album version, but my wife isn't convinced by the "WOO-WOO" sirens. I think you should prove to her what a great soing it is by doing it in a stipped down version Thanks - Barry McKenna, Glasgow

Jamie Coxon
I would love to hear "Nightswimming". It is me and my mate's favourite song ever. it makes us reminisce of the good days. Just a beautiful song. Great new track with "Leaving New York" by the way.

GARDENING AT NIGHT
BRIAN IT DOES`NT GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!!

Alexander
I would like to listen " Leave " from New Adventures in Hi-Fi .

Everybody Hurts
I deal with a lot of death and tragedy in my line of work. I feel that this song is totally in touch with grief yet is a gee-up to say that life goes on, it doesn't have to be the end of you living your life too. Quite simply the best song ever written.

benedict docherty
Cuyahoga, it's off "Life's rich pagent", my first REM album, a beautiful track from a classic record. Topical as well! Failing that "white tornado"...

Robert Bland
Sitting Still. The first song I learned on guitar. We used to play this in our band at school (variously monicerd Face for Hire, Passion Garden, Negative Feedback and Dog Days), I was singer (there were 2 of us singing lead vocals- don't ask me why!)and violinist (don't ask) but on Sitting Still I would play the arpeggiated riff which comes after each line. I've subsequently learned to play guitar "properly" but will always have a deep affection for Murmer and this song in particular. We used to sit in an abandoned classroom during break, huddled over an old dictation cassette recorder playing and replaying the album and arguing over the lyrics which we each thought we'd heard, wearing out the cassette and the heads on the player. Magic years. Thankyou, REM.

Boo
I'd love them to do 'Country Feedback' please, I really hope I get to see them do it live in person one day, I might just burst with excitement! I do live music photography and REM are top of my wish list to get in front of the lens. A girl can dream ;-)

Andy the Wolf
I love R.E.M. - I have to make that clear, and feel honoured to the core of my cotton socks that I have been gifted these free tickets. Thank you so much. But what songs?! Fudge-a-dog, I just don't know. Anything. Everything. It's all genius, but I suppose I could be tempted to select some favourites. Well, I was a sprightly 13 year old back in 1996 (yes, that does mathematically make me young), and I was a massive fan of cult American comedy hero Andy Kaufman. I loved him. "Taxi" was being re-run at the time, and I had managed to acquire several classic live performances on video from several brilliantly unheard-of backstreet shops. It was then that I heard that a band had done a song about him called "Man On The Moon" - I borrowed it from a friend, and I was hooked. It was beautifully whimsical and deliciously dark. A few days later I saw "Green" going for a song in some shop or other, and bought it. I couldn't believe I hadn't fallen in love with them earlier - so I systematically, and very quickly, acquired their entire back catalogue. My point? Oh yeah. Well, "Man On The Moon" has to be my first choice. And I am of the opinion that it would go very well with a little bit of "So. Central Rain", "Begin The Begin", "Country Feedback" and "The One I Love". But who am I to dictate the setlist of musical geniuses? I'll leave it up to them - basically, they couldn't go wrong.

Adam Rich
"The One I Love" - FIIIIIREEEEE!!

Sarita J.
AtMy most Beautiful, as it's the perfect love song.

ashley & frances bowen
...ORANGE CRUSH; it's the song that pulled me in to rem's perfect circle.... OR camerA; because of the sheer mysticism of Michael's tender vocal... or LEAVE because it's as epic, heartbreaking & technically brilliant musically as what William Faulkner's The Sound and the FURY is to classic literature. AT MY MOST BEAUTIFUL because it's the greatest companion to love's beginnings(as good as the W B YEATS poem HE WISHES FOR THE CLOTHES OF HEAVEN)

Alison Brown
ORANGE CRUSH!!! My all time fave - PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE play it!!! : )

Crag
Talk About The Passion With the impending US elections maybe REM could inspire a Kerry victory with this heartfelt song

Stipey1
I would love REM to play Binky the Doormat!

Jason Flannery
COUNTRY FEEDBACK!, especially one of the extended versions. P.S. Why can't I be there? I saw R.E.M. four times last year and that wasn't enough. Who are these lucky 300 people?

nightswimming
Exquisite

simon gregory
Nightswimming. Its a song that stirs up so many emotions (Like many REM tracks) but this just makes my spine shiver

Laurence
I'd love to hear "southern central rain (I'm sorry)". It was the first song of their's that i hear on the radio and even now, twenty (blimey) years later i can still remember where i was and even what i was looking at as i stopped dead in my tracks, afraid to move lest the radio should somehow detune and i'd never find out who the band was. The next day i bought the record (on 12" vinyl). The i found a copy of "talk about the passion" and was hooked. i went back to buy "murmur" only to find "reckoning" had been released that day. I've bought everything since and have travelled far and wide to see them play. I guess that song changed my life, so there's no need for an apology at the end of it.

kath
i'd love to hear them play night swimming coz its one of my favourites and means a lot to me, or everybody hurts coz it makes me cry, nearly every time.... otherwise an old one like swan swan H or anything mith mikey singing :D

Maps and Legends
I love the version of this on 'Perfect Square', I also made myself pick something different to 'Country Feedback'- just for a change!

martin gee

ORANGE CRUSH- definately a must!!! WHATS THE FREQUENCY KENNITH? - my favourite R.E.M. song that will never grow old in my eyes. BEGIN THE BEGIN - definately the song to start a concert and make sure everyone is awake. but the 1 song that i would have to chose is...THE ONE I LOVE and i would dedicate it to my girlfriend Emma for obvious reasons! ROCK ON R.E.M.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SMac
Leave is my favourite, otherwise So Fast, So Numb or Electrolite (Sorry, Peter, you're saddled with the banjo again!).

Electrolite

Kevin Whitelaw
I would be really chuffed if they played Perfect cirle off of Murmur as its my favourite rem song on my favourite rem album, in fact anything off of murmur would do!!

the sidewinder sleeps tonite
this is the finest song ( outside of the smiths) to ever grace the airwaves

Everybody hurts
FAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Claire
jeeze, it's impossible to pick just ONE song but, gun at my head, I'd say...LEAVE! :D Yes, such a brilliant song from a fantabulous album and it's just begging *ahem* to be performed live!! :D:D

Mark Chapman

Fiona Jones
Witchita Lineman, I heard Michael Stipe singing this on a REM documentry a few years ago, it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!!

Duncan Cartlidge
'Night swimming' paints so many pictures.

kate bennett
everybody hurts because its true. Its a great song and reninds you that there are otheres who are having sad times too, so have a tear then move on if you can

Gardening at Midnight
My all time favorite band. Every album they have put out has been unique and a different sound. Not like some bands where every album is the same. REM is very passionate about their music.

Pete & Gay.
It's got to be Everybody Hurts. it's our fave and if we heard it live we'd cuddle up and both cry!!

Neil
I would like to hear Nightswimming. It is such a beautiful song. Michael has never sounded so fragile. Other than that I'd like to hear Tongue just to see whether Michael can sustain falsetto.

William Thomas
I'd love to hear Letter Never Sent from the second LP. It's a truly magical song that really sums up REM for me: elusive, sublime and beautifully tender. If not Letter Never Sent, then Half A World Away from Out Of Time.

Rebecca
I love 'night swim' from 'Time of Outtakes' It reminds me of good times and it always makes me smile.

Paul Rodgers
R.E.M. + Patti Smith + E-Bow The Letter = Musical Perfection

Imagine
I can just imagine Michael's voice wrapped around Lennon's beautiful lyrics

end of the world (as we know it)
always makes me remember that the world is changing and not for the better, it's a song that i hope make people realise that we all need to do something to cange the world for the better before it's too late!!

PK
It simply has to be 'be mine'. The most amazing REM song ever - far better than Everybody Hurts. A hidden gem on New Adventures on Hi-Fi.

Sian Bateman
King of Comedy or Crush with Eyeliner - genius

Mark Richards
Gardening at night or Lower, wolves from Chronic Town. For people who got them from the beginning!

Drive
I've been a fan of REM since 1987 please give me the tickets please!

carole
Finest Worksong and It's the End of the World as We Know It - so rocking and strong played live. Also Walk Unafraid is beautiful, and Turn You Inside-Out is perfect played loud. Spent many hours dancing around my bedroom to Bang and Blame too. Not many bands around that can compare in terms of the quality of REM's body of work.

Country Feedback
It's R.E.M. at there best... just listen to the song

DAvide
"E-bow the letter" that is mistakenly forgotten

Everybody Hurts
This is one of the most haunting songs of all time for me. I would love to hear it live in concert

Tongue
No comment needed.

Everybody Hurts
One of the greatest ballards ever performed...always reminds me of the early nineties and the fall of the Soviet Union!

Julia Caratti
All of them they are all great (especially when driving alone in the car with the radio really loud!)

fiona saunders
It's the end of the world as we know(and i feel fine) or nightswimming. Love all R.E.M. songs so i'd listen to them singing their shopping lists

Everybody Hurts
It makes you cry and at the same time gives you hope

Mark Beebe
E-Bow the Letter...amazing song Patti Smith sounds awesome

Allan Derrick
I've already asked for Find The River, But I'm being greedy and i would love them to play E-bow The Letter. I've never heard them do it live. If they can't play it then, play it at Prague when I'm there in January.

Allan Derrick
I would love to hear R.E.M. perform Find The River, as it's my Fav song of all time.

Andy Carr
so many to choose but think i'll have to go with Be Mine off New Adventures because it takes you on a lovely journey.

Alex MacMinn
Losing my Religion please.

Andy Turner
They should definately perform 'Country Feedback' - or even 'Wendell Gee'!

Nightswimming
They didn't play it at Huddersfield!

John Squire
Waterfall

John Joiner
Gardening At Night

Bebs
I'd love them to play Why Not Smile. Its a beautiful song off a beautiful album (up) and it means alot to me. Entered the comp. on this website and haven't given up hope! (no DAB for me...)

Leaving New York
REM certainly know how to keep you listening!

The One I Love
this is REM's best song, the guitar rifts are excellent and I would love it see it performed live

tim
I would love for REM to sing Sweetness Follows from their 'Automatic' album. It is the one song I think they perform better live, than on the record. Coming from Georgia as well, not far from where REM are from, it would be amazing just to see REM play live while I'm here in London.

mima puddleduck
'you are the everything' is a beautiful song, it would be great to hear that... REM rule, Michael has the best voice around, utterly unique.

Man on the Moon
Please let me win.

Me
It's got to be Everybody Hurts...

Andrew mccafferty
Everybody hurts the song that everyone can relate to!

Peter Revell
Losing my religion A great song anyway, but there is a live version on The Best of Mountain Stage volume 2 that is really amazing.

Ron Cameron
Leaving New York, they having lost it have they?

Karen Davies
I would love REM to play Losing my Religion as its my favourite song of all time.......

steven whitfield

ruyhnn
space oddity or life onmars or mull of kintye!!!!

Paul Brock
What's the frequency Kenneth? - this is just the most brilliant track they have ever recorded and is so energising.

So Fast So Numb

tony wakley
everybody hurts or orange crush just play it

Roy Glancey
Would have to be Everybody Hurts, it says it all, without falling into any of the traps that a song like that can fall into. Thanks.

Kelvin Nel
Let Me In Your Life by The Isly Brothers. A perfect cover for them to do of a perfect song.

Radio Free Europe
An amazing early song that still makes me sing along

Heather Mackintosh
Superman or Man on the Moon please!

Dennis Tinker
Everybody Hurts Glad to see your Back!

What's the Frequency, Kenneth ?
Just absolutely love the guitar riff of the song. REM are by far the best band to have come out of America since the 60s.

Mark Lawrence
Sweetness Follows is a beautifully, emotional song, Great Beyond or something early such as Pretty Persuasion

PAUL BAKEWELL
ORANGE CRUSH - PERLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE !!

David Frost
Nightswimming - I always play this track first when listening to the greatest hits

Ali says...
you are the everything...beautiful, haunting, it always makes me cry. so if Peter Buck were to pick up his mandolin...I just worked out that I've been listening to REM for half my life. But as I don't have a DAB Digital Radio I cannot enter your competition...sigh

David James
Bad Day please because I am having plenty of them at the moment !!!!

Nurjehan Begum
I want R.E.M. to play Leaving New York live since it sounds so brilliant on audio, it will sound even better when they perform it live. Also Strange Currencies, one of their best of all time. But as always, Losing My Religion - they put their R.E.M. magic in that always. R.E.M's new single, Leaving New York deserves to go to number 1 as R.E.M. have always deserved a number 1, but this song because of the such beautifulness of the souning of the song as a whole, the lyrics make so much sense (unlike some songs around now), and it actually makes you think about life. P.S. this is R.E.M.'s biggest fan...after Bill Berry that is!!!

Caroline Robinson
Don't Go Back to Rockville, It's an oldie but a goodie and will please all those die-hard fans that have supported them since the early years! Plus, it's the ultimate cheer-up song!

Kate Pickering
Fall On Me. Such a great song that they don't always play.

Carole Ely
Losing My Religion is my favourite. It gets better every time I hear it, and you can dance to it as well! Surely REM couldn't do a concert without including this song.

Claire Russell
everybody hurts

Jason Seddon
Man on the Moon I'm a big fan of Andy Kaufman

Caroline Gulla
Shiny Happy People

Rachel
Nightswimming would be cool, such a perfect dreamy tune

Emma Jones
I'd love them to play Man on the Moon.

Everybody Hurts
It makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck when I hear this. It evokes such powerful images in the mind.

iain phillips
Losing My Religion Absolute brilliance

Alistair Caven
World Leader Pretend. Although i had liked REM for a few years priop to the Green album, It was this one song that just kind a resonated with me, and in these troubled times its seems even more relevent than ever.

Radio Free Europe / Laughing / Gardening At Night
Some early tracks!

Heather Gerard
"I'll Take The Rain" - the most moving and emotional song REM or anyone else has ever done.

becca
lovin Leaving New York but Find the River and the Chorus of the Ring would also be winners!!!

Headlights On The Parade
Although a Blue Nile standard, this would be hugely interesting to hear the treatment REM could give the tone of the music, combined with the delivery of the lonely, sad, but so inpirational lyric.

rebecca jackson
Night swimming

everybody hurts
this song made me realise everyone suffers some pain in there life, and that i could get over mine.

Brad Downs
What's The Frequency Kenneth?

Kirsteen
Any REM song will be fantastic, that's a given, but i'd like to hear them work that REM magic on a super cool cover. If it was my choice, that super cool cover would be of Under the Milky Way by The Church.

Steven Lawton
I'd like to see R.E.M. perform "What's The Frequency Kenneth?", "Nightswimming" and "Daysleeper".

Adrian Turner
I must have seen them about half a dozen times now, but a couple of songs I'm yet to, and would love to, hear are: "Leave", "Superman", "Turn You Inside-Out" and "Near Wild Heaven". Can't wait to see them again next Wednesday!

Love to see REM play End of the world, My all time favorite song!!!!

Stuart Johnson
Strange Currencies, This song says so much, very simple and makes such a strong point in that everyone can relate to it one way or another. (plus i love singing away to it in my car on the way home from work!!!)

Barzan
Just....'Walk Unafraid' (- always!)

Strange Currencies
Love this song, must be one of the best they have ever writen, very simple but gets to the point!

E-bow the letter
This is a great song from one of their best albums, which was greatly under-appreciated by the press.

Sally Barstow
Wake-up Bomb

lucy bennett
I'd love to hear Chorus and the Ring, my fave REM song. Can't wait for the gig, I'll be travelling up from Wales for it :)

Kate Wootton-Beard
"Everybody Hurts"

Philip Burns
Orange Crush. This song made my sister buy the Green (G4een?) album for me many years ago - and I've been a fan ever since. Excellent song, excellent album, and they've got better and better ever since. Oh, and a cover of 'Road to Amarillo'

Ian Barnes
Everybody Hurts

Night Swimming
The Best

Harry Ferguson
So Fast, So Numb. That song is so sexy!

Disturbance at the heron house
Fantastic song

ang & jon
we'd love to hear 'wall of death' a fantastic extra track.

sean
night swimming its such a beautiful song

Neill
Tongue is as good as anything they've ever written, amazingly played on Road Movie. Good to see support for New Adventures, unquestionably their finest album.

Siobhan
I would love to hear REM play Everybody hurts as it is the most haunting and beautiful song I have ever had the privledge to have heard. Totally and utterly perfect.

Craig Taylor
Radio Song

Michael McGrory
Losing My Religion

Kelvin Billing
Would love a new live version of 'fall on me' and 'driver 8' and 'I believe' Oh I don't mind they can play what they feel in the mood to play on the night,

Liam Nicol
I'd love to hear I Believe, Walk Unafraid, falls to climb, anything on up, so fast so numb!!! quality

Liam Nicol
I'd like them to play Country Feedback, but I'm really gutted because i dont hav a digital radio or television, so I can't go! nightmare!

Dominic Cleal
Electrolite (New Adventures), closely followed by Nightswimming (Automatic for the People). Belong (Out of Time) and At My Most Beautiful are brilliant too.

Driver 8
More of the good unplayed stuff and less of the over played crowd-pleasers. Everyone should hear everything. Except for Shiny Happy People.

everybody hurts
no matter where I am or what I'm doing always need to stop, and just listen.

Imelda O'Neill
Man On the Moon - a song for Andy Haufmann, it gets better with every listen.

kate
E-bow the letter. So beautiful, especially with Thom Yorke on backing vocals

David Gorman
everybody hurts is my fave R.E.M. song because in my opinion it opened up a new audience for their music.

this on goes out to the one i love (?)
This, along with all thier other work, truly captures an emotion. Great musicianship, heartfelt vocals, beautiful songs. Say no more.

Me in Honey
Perfect pop

John Bowker
It's the end of the world as we know it(and I feel fine)

Kevin Angel
Everybody hurts

Wendy
Be Mine - Quirky as ever

Jamie Wire
Make it all ok

Anything!
Because R.E.M are brilliant and Michael Stipe is the only person i know that shares my birthday (4th january) and he is a living, breathing genius

Anna Ferguson
World leader pretend This has to be the most under rated song ever. I love it and I wish there were more like it!

Jamie Broadbridge
I would love to hear "BE MINE" i just love this song i did the very second i heard it and this is also the song that me and my beautiful fiancee marie have called "OUR SONG" I have had the great pleasure to witness REM live a few times, they just get stronger and stronger the last time i saw them was in weisbaden germany last year me and my girl made it onto the live dvd. But I am sad to say that i have never seen them in such a small venue as you are hosting them at so it would be fantastic to go there pleeeeaaasseee.... Jamie...

Fiona H
Hi. If REM could play "King of Birds" from Document it would bring a smile to my face. I cannot explain why, but it makes me feel happy. I think of an old homeless guy who feeds the birds - they are his friends and he is content. I've been lucky enough to see REM play live a couple of times, but I have never heard this song live, so it would be a real treat.

Pete Hart
'You Are The Everything' - simply fabulous

andrew
Lost in the supermarket,by the Clash.REM are probably the only band that could do a Clash cover justice!!!

Peter McLanachan
Hmmm, where to start??? OK, let's go for Driver 8, Pretty Persuasion, Coyahoga (a million thank yous for playing that at T in the Park!)... Ach sod it! Just play every song from every album in order until you reach the last track of "Around The Sun"

Debbie Rees
From the greatest band in the world? Anything would be great but the acoustic version of 'Leave'is breathtaking, or 'Finest Worksong', 'Orange Crush', 'Bad Day' or 'Imitation of Life' it makes me happy!Green Grow the Rushes - that's lovely.

I'll take the rain
Such a poignant song about rejection and feeling lost in love.

Everybody Hurts
Ermmm.........'ello

SI
one song to to end 2004 final strew

Trish
U2 - One, still have it on tape and they sing it better than U2...who would have ever thought it possible!!

david keane
Im a follower of rem and i like the song 'pale blue eyes' from dead letter office, michaels vocal on that are superb.

Ruth
At my most beautiful One of the simplest, one of the best!

Andy Woods
E-Bow The Letter. The most beautiful song from one of their most underated, yet strongest albums.

Dan Pilcher
Id like to see the preform The Wake Up Bomb its a really great song that i enjoy everytime i hear it! Thanks

cliff whittingham
I would like REM to perform "perfect circle", why ? because it is my favorite song.......thank you.

craig
ill take the rain - a most beautiful song

Jane Evans
"It's the end of the world as we know it ... and I feel fine" - Timely, timeless lyrics.

Jane Evans-Woodason
I'd like to hear "Summertime" because Michael Stipe is the only person who doesn't make you wish it was Billy Holiday singing the words.

-kawada-
Green grow the rushes Leave Bad day Drive Laughing These days ......I know it says which SONG but thats just an impossible question

martin corrall
Everybody Hurts. Because this is my wifes favourite song. Tell her I luv her loads. Thanks.

claire woods
Losing my Religon

Turn You Inside Out
We've heard Everybody Hurts, Man On The Moon and Losing My Religion a million times. A set list without them would be great. Every R.E.M song is important.

Michael Reeves
'Be Mine'. One of the most beautiful songs off their most underrated and underperformed album 'New Adventures in Hi-Fi'. It always reminds me of someone special and lifts my spirits.

Nancy Tran
I'd like to see REM perform Country Feedback

Andy Caldwell
Losing My Religion

Ian Mulvey
Just got informed today that I can travel down to the gig from Scotland with my wife - Would love to hear So. Central Rain from Reckoning or Cuyahoga from Fables

Robyn Phillips
Shiny Happy People

Sarah
Begin the Begin - It was the first song I heard them play live How the West was Won.... or anything else from New Adventures - my favourite song and album Hope - I think this would sound so good live Actually, have them play everything, I love all their songs!

Nikos
'Pilgrimage' or 'Talk about the passion' from Murmur. 'So. Central Rain' or '(Don't Go Back To) Rockville' from Reckoning. 'Maps and Legends', 'Fall on me', 'Welcome to the occupation' ...the list goes on.

Chris Morton
Having seen REM quite a few times at some amazing venues including the Staats Oper in Vienna I would love to hear Don't Go Back to Rockville which for me is an amazingly beautiful track that brings bcak some of my early REM memories... Or perhaps the beautiful Wrong Child.

bob burgess
has to be night swimming, as brilliant when sat next to a lake in the middle of the night drinking red wine.

Alex Ferguson
Everybody Hurts because its one of the greatest love songs ever written.

katie B
everybody hurts...you could always let me come and watch REM, im a seriously cool person...

Jamie
Hope or Fretless sound great acoustically, Stipey can even play the former (just) on a guitar. In Time was just a commercial thing - I doubt the band had too much to do with it because it's missing some great tracks.

Matt p
'Stand' - nuff said. it gets me jigging

ASTRID KOLLROS
HI, I'D LOVE TO HEAR NIGHTSWIMMING. I THINK THIS SONG WOULD BE PERFECT TO HEAR IN A QUIET SMALL LOCATION, PLUS I HAVE NEVER HEARD THE SONG LIVE BEFORE

Matt, London
Has to be Find The River - just an awesome song and criminally missing from the In Time album.

Corie
A couple of suggestions: Parakeet - one of the most beautiful and thought provoking songs ever written! or Shaking Through - hardly ever played live these days, but a great old song!

NIGHTSWIMMING
IT'S AN AMAZING SONG! TO WHATEVER GIG I WENT I HAVEN'T HEARD IT LIVE YET...

Jen R. Hogg
I am Superman - started it all!

Adam
I'd love to hear a live version of 'Be Mine' from New Adventures in Hi-Fi. One of their best songs, achingly beautiful, and yet hardly ever mentioned or played. Such a shame!

Pan Florentzos
Driver 8. It was the first REM song I ever heard and still one of my favourites. It kicks while still exuding great melodies. Very cool indeed! How can we get tickets for this gig then?

Spridge
Find The River and Fall On Me would be perfect.

David Martin
'Cuyahoga' - the most beautiful song they've ever written!

Pum
So Central Rain would be amazing to hear live. Otherwise Walk Unafraid and / or Find the River inspire me every time i hear them -and sung live they are something else.

Damien du Toit
My picks: 'Star 69', 'Orange Crush', 'Sponge', 'Walk Unafraid'!

Janet & Anton
In our views, a show without Country Feedback feels incomplete, it brings us back to sanity...

Julia
I Believe. It's not necessarily my favourite song but I've never heard it live and think it would be pretty amazing.

chris
they played country feedback in marlay park dublin as a fans request so y not again? that song is so powerful and michael puts emotions intosongs that can only be rivaled by meat loaf

Ray Roberts
As the 17c bus took me home after my first REM gig in 1984, the one song I couldn't get out of my head was 'So.Central Rain', and it felt like the bus was flying...

darren snelgrove
I would love to hear rem play find the river , "best song ever"

Kate
Country Feedback or Ebow the letter - please please play them!! :) please please please i will be eternally greatful and so will everyone whose listening!

Purple Monkey
How can I possibly choose? I'd listen to Michael sing Atomic Kitten songs if necessary! (No, that might be stretching it a little). South Central Rain please.

Fall On Me
The best of REM in one song

Iain Brooks
Preferably "shiney happy people" but as they didn't want that on their album I don't see them wanting to play it! How's about "Night Swimming" instead - excellent melody that just builds up as the song progresses, really relaxing.

Not asking for much
Been a fan since the year dot and they just get better and better, I'd love them to play Imitation of life or All the Way to Reno! I adore Reveal.. not many people do! Or The Great Beyond just for the fantastic line 'I'm pushing an elephant up the stairs' Brilliance.

Michael Thompson
hi there all at radio 2 i love REM to perform there song ''Pop song 89'' as this song brings back alot of good memmoeris as it come out when my son was born. and i had it played as me and my wife walked down the ail to get mardied.

world leader pretend
as w's presendency hopefully comes to end this song maybe sums up a new begining or just an old ending.

Jimmy Bizzle
i would love to hear them play "at my most beautiful". it says only what i wish i could!!!

everybody hurts
even my (at times cold hearted) partner

John Fogarty
Personal favourites are (Don't go back to) Rockville and Electrolite. The first song primarily for it's resonance on not going back to a small town mentality. The second song reminds me of a happy time hitch hiking around New Zealand.

Simon Massey
"Permanent Vacation" It is amazing to know this song was wrote over 20 years ago and has only been played a few times since.

Phil
Fairly old one, but Fall on Me is a classic. Also, Bitter Sweet Me, I've never heard them play it live

Helen
Walk Unafraid please - a wonderful song that has a special meaning for me as it inspired me while recovering from a serious illness.

Hedley
It's my wife who is the biggest fan. Apart from everything they've done, her favourites include Country Feedback, South Central rain & Camera, also the Jimmy Webb covers too. As for me I'd like to hear Radio Free Europe, Wake up Bomb & Losing my Religion. The latter because its our song when they do what they do best, playing live. Just in case the guys look in or see the comments, my wife is a dead ringer for one of the extras in the Imitation of Life video. I'm not saying which one publicly!

Yaz
End of the world as we know it (and i feel fine)

mark cameron
The Lion Sleeps Tonight or radio free europe

mark cameron
The Lion Sleeps Tonight or radio free europe

Phil Grattage
Everybody Hurts - The first REM song that I heard many years ago, and now our son plays it on his guitar for us.

Stuart
Nightswimming. I listened to it endlessly when my twin boys were born and it takes me back there everytime!

Gordon
Please please please play 'It's the end of the world as we know it'

Alex Procter
What's The Frequency Kenneth? This is my dads favourite- When he sings this he thinks he's Michael Stipe. My mum just wishes he was Michael Stipe!!!

Ian Procter
What a difficult decision to make-All REM songs are favourites! However I think that the "UP" album just has the edge...especially Lotus & Walk Unafraid which are unbelievably good. Thanks to the group for bringing so much pleasure into our lives with such incredible music.

Dan Kirk
My favourite songs are some of their lesser known ones. 'Walk Unafraid', 'You Are The Everything', 'Leave', and 'I'll Take The Rain' are all amazing

enough said
you know with love comes STRANGE CURRANCIES!!!

Jacqui Procter
Country Feedback -The most " Pure Erotic Hymn" ever written.

find the river
for many years now this song has picked me up from my lowest points, have been fortuanate enough to see what I deem to be the greatest band ever 3 times. I never tire of there work. Mick Tong

Craig Dearden
At My Most Beautiful Cos its AWESOME

Lisa
I would love them to play 'you are the everything' and explain what they mean when they sing 'drifting off to sleep, with your teeth in your mouth'

Simon Fenton
Wichita Lineman!!! Special sentimental value for my wife and I. (We met the night they recorded this for a B -side). If not... then COUNTRY FEEDBAAAAACK! Or maybe Pigrimage?

at my most beautiful
Classic song - copied it for the woman i love

Driving

Rozanne Miller
Superman from Life's Rich Pageant, please

Eddie
I would love to hear some of their more rocking songs like "I Believe" from Life's Rich Pageant and "Departure" from New Adventures in Hi-Fi.

Simon Wieremiej
Love to hear "Good Advices" from Fables or "Lever Never Sent" from Reckoning.

Piers Dennison
Night Swimming

Jason Land
None of them are particularly well-known outside of R.E.M. obsessives such as myself , but I could probably die happy if they performed "You're In The Air" from "Up", "Chorus And The Ring" from "Reveal" and "Fall On Me" from "Life's Rich Pageant". Happy days......... Jason.

Eddie Lawrence
The 'Great Beyond' is a wonderfully catchy sing-along number with lyrics that stick in your mind for days

Robbie
"Sad Professor" from Up or " Strange Currencies" from Monster

Sarah, from Glasgow
It would fantastic to hear something from Murmur like Perfect Circle, or Radio Free Europe!

David Dempsey
It's not one of their best known songs, but I'd love to hear 'Walk Unafraid' from their 'Up' album.
