One Big Weekend - more backstage gossip

The Streets' language hits the streets

The Streets

The Streets did a stonking set at One Big Weekend, and their new track 'Fit But You Know It' went down really well.

Mike Skinner told us a little bit of history about how the tune came about:

"It was a guy at college, actually, that used to say that to me. That was, what, eleven years ago now, so it's always been with me and I always felt like I wanted to make a tune."

"It's become something else, I mean not just a song, but the actual line 'Fit But You Know It' has become something that people say. That's all you can hope for, you know?"

Keane's on-stage success explained

Keane

Keane did a fantastic set at One Big Weekend too, and that might be down to Tom's love of lucky mascots:

"My shoes are the starting point. They're splitting in two bits, which is great, in both shoes. So I've been gaffer-taping those up. My jeans are soaked with sweat!"

"They are my lucky trainers. Ever since I've been wearing these I've just felt more mobile around the stage. They're to be kept, I think, until they really do fall apart. I've got the same with my mic stand actually, which is falling apart!"

Kelis: don't call me raunchy

Kelis

Kelis performed eight tracks, and took her t-shirt off for 'Milkshake', dancing around in just a bra top, with lots of booty shaking.

Kelis has been supporting Britney on tour, a show which has been described as very raunchy, but despite her One Big Weekend performance, Kelis denies she's raunchy herself:

"I'm not raunchy. Sexy and raunchy are two totally different things. They're like night and day! My mum is sexy, but she's not raunchy - good lord!"

One big tour bus just for Avril

Avril Lavigne

Kelis flew her own nail technician in, but Avril Lavigne even surpassed that - whilst most bands travel with their crew, she makes her own arrangements when it comes to life on the road:

"I have my own bus! Last year I toured with the guys and this year I need some space. It's fun."

"I love being on the bus. It's so fun for me. I don't know if it's because I grew up camping, but I love it!"
