 Club Guide
Bakers
162 Broad Street, Birmingham
Bakers has never promised anything ground-breaking, just hands-in-the-air,
pumping, thumping house and lots of shiny, happy people and, as a result, it
doesn't have any ridiculous expectations to live up to. The crowd have been
the same since its opening; fun-loving, un-pretentious types who are simply
out for a good time. The club boasts a good-sized venue in a fantastic
location at the top of Broad Street. The dancefloors are speckled with
podiums and you'll find the majority of the club on and around these. The
open-plan design of the club means that there are no secret rooms and makes
Bakers an ideal club for meeting like-minded clubbers.

Bonds
Hampton Street, Birmingham
Bonds is a relatively compact two-roomed venue. Downstairs is an eating area
and a small dancefloor with a bar at each end while upstairs is a smaller
room with a separate chill-out area. Since it's not situated in the built-up
bar area, you will need to get a taxi from the town centre if you want to
sample Birmingham's pre-club options.

Code
Heath Mill Lane, Digbeth, Birmingham
Since its opening at The Sanctuary, Godskitchen

nights, opening its own venue, Code. With one of the best designs in the country and one of the best sound systems in the world, Code is at the top of many DJs' lists of venues to play at. On Fridays at Code you can catch hard house and trance with Godskitchen. On Saturday night, Code goes funky with the ever popular Babooshka. Liberty's
184 Hagley Road, Birmingham
One of the most visually pleasing clubs in Birmingham, Liberty's stands on its own as a self-sufficient venue. Inside you'll find a restaurant - open from 8pm-2am, bar, two-room club and an older, more sophisticated crowd (strictly over 21s). Walk around the edge of the dancefloor and you'll find a number of bars including two specifically catering for cocktail and champagne connoisseurs. Liberty's is primarily known as a place to socialise rather than for its music policy but, make no mistake, these people like to move and the majority of the crowd can be found on the dancefloor. Downstairs in The Lounge, however, things are a little more chilled with a lower volume and large leather sofas where you can sip from your champagne flute and eye up the talent.

Que Club
212 Corporation Street, Birmingham
A massive venue, playing host to a variety of Birmingham's top clubbing
events. The focus of the club is the main dancefloor overlooked by tiered
seating and surrounded by a maze of corridors adjoining a number of other
rooms. Make sure you check out the Market Place (in one of the back rooms)
stocking those clubbing essentials. The interior was grimy to say the least
and, as a result, the Que Club was recently given a much-needed lick of paint
and future alterations are in the pipeline. A number of monthly events take
place at the Q Club but the best idea is to pick up a flyer pack or check
local press for up-to-date listings on any particular weekend.

Sanctuary
78 Digbeth High Street, Birmingham
This converted Edwardian hall boasts four rooms, two dance arenas, a VIP bar, rooftop conservatory and seven bars. On entering the club you will arrive in a lobby with a deep red central staircase which leads you to each floor and there are a set of toilets on every landing. Straight ahead is the main dance arena which is overlooked by a tiered balcony. The Sanctuary is undoubtedly a classic venue. That said, it is getting a bit tatty and its sheer size can be difficult to fill. Sundissential profile
