If anyone deserves an exclamation mark, it's Swound! Recalling the eyebrow-raising youthful exuberance of Mclusky and Symposium (both sadly defunct), everything about them is extraordinary. Truly, this is a band that demands your attention.
Consisting of four zombie-obsessed brothers who grew up on the Isle of Man next door to Norman Wisdom and John Rhys Davies (how many bands can claim that?!), they're relentless self-promoters. They've broken the record for the biggest number of zombies in one place (Nottingham), have appeared on TV shows Bargain Hunt and The Weakest Link, and are endorsed by a brand of botanically-brewed soft drinks and the world's hottest sauce. Remarkable.
Back to the music, though. Rob Da Bank declared Swound! as his top tip for the year back when Swound! started out and invited them in to record a session at Maida Vale. They released new single We Are A Danger on Stressed Sumo records in March 2009. Zany, hyperactive, ever-so-slightly-tongue-in-cheek, and not to be missed.
