Swound!

Swound

OneMusic welcomes the sound of Swound!

Back in December Rob da Bank was rummaging in the demo pile when he came across a selection of tracks by this Nottingham based band. The incendry What's Your Poison was the first track played on air and, in fact, it was the track that got them the session.

This incarnation of Swound! featuring brothers Joe Staszkiewicz, Tom Staszkiewicz and Rowan Staszkiewicz alongside Alex Nichol and Will Young, have been playing together for just over a year. They say "We play good music," so they're pretty honest lads.

As well as being singled out by Rob as one of his tips for 2006, they've also got major props from Davy from the Crimea and Steve Lamacq and both his Radio 1 and 6Music shows.

Most recently the band have played alongside Kasabian, Hard Fi, Silver Sun, Monkey Boy, Abdoujaparov (ex carter USM), The Crimea, The Fire Theft (Nate from the Foos other band) and loads of others.

It's also recommended that you catch them live. Of their own live show they say, "We like to have fun onstage We are energetic and witty. We all went to university so we have a superior intellect to most."

Check out the www.swound.co.uk website for a video diary of their session day at the BBC Maida Vale Studios.
