Young Gemini and JZyNO
Young Gemini is a 24-year-old Zimbabwean singer and rapper and her songs are very varied. JZyNO's hit Butta My Bread is probably the most successful afrobeat track by a Liberian.
Young Gemini describes herself as a very prolific hiphop artist. The 24-year-old Zimbabwean artist sings and raps and her many songs are very varied. Her favourite track, Mae, was inspired by grief. Young Gemini lost her baby daughter in February 2023, but she says the experience has made her more able to write songs tapping into deep emotions.
JZyNO's hit song Butta My Bread, is probably the most successful afrobeat track by a Liberian artist outside the home country. JZyNO is passionate about putting Liberian music on the global map, but he has had to relocate to Ghana to make his dreams come true. He says it's been a struggle, but where he is now feels amazing.
