Ami Faku
Ami Faku is one of South Africa's most successful singers, but, as she tells DJ Edu, she has had to overcome fears and a lack of confidence to become the artist she is today.
Ami Faku’s sublime vocals have graced songs by South Africa’s best, including Kabza da Small and DJ Maphorisa, but she also has powerful songs of her own, and was named female artist of the year at the South African Music Awards in 2020.
But, as she tells DJ Edu, she didn’t start out confident at all. She had to overcome her fear, and even now, despite her success, she finds many aspects of being an artist daunting. What she loves is the music itself and when her songs touch others emotionally.
