The UK officially leaves the EU

Britain has officially left the European Union after forty-seven years.

The end of nearly half a century of membership prompts eleven months of negotiations to decide on the UK’s future relationship with the EU.

Brexit supporters outside parliament cheered, sang and waved flags and there were parties in many other places around the country.
