Hong Kong protests over extradition law

Protesters say that judicial independence is under threat.

Thousands of people are expected to take to the streets in Hong Kong to demonstrate their anger over a proposed new extradition law. They fear the legislation, which will allow suspected law breakers to be sent to mainland China to face trial, will threaten Hong Kong's judicial independence. We hear from one of the protesters.

Also on the programme, as the former foreign secretary Boris Johnson consolidates his position as frontrunner to lead the governing UK Conservative party, we hear from a former deputy leader of the party. And the legendary film director Werner Herzog talks about his latest documentary "Nomad," a highly personal piece about his old friend, the travel writer Bruce Chatwin.
