Boris Johnson's economic challenges

As Boris Johnson takes over as UK prime minister, we consider his economic challenges.

As Boris Johnson takes over as UK prime minister, we consider his economic challenges. Sonia Pernell is author of Just Boris: A Tale of Blond Ambition, and tells us who Mr Johnson is. Professor Jagjit Chadha, director of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research considers what a potential 'no deal' Brexit, mentioned frequently in the prime ministerial campaign, would mean for the country. And Kate Andrews of the Institute of Economic Affairs discusses how likely it is that the UK will quickly strike a trade deal with the United States. Also in the programme, in France, extreme high temperature has meant the power company EDF has closed down two nuclear power plants. Dr Jonathan Cobb of the World Nuclear Association explains the challenges of power generation in hot weather. Plus our reporter in Bangalore, India, examines the rise of so-called 'co-living' where residents share kitchens, bathrooms and lounges in exchange for services like social events, cleaning and meals.
