Hong Kong protests: Rule of law on 'brink of collapse'
The police issued the warning after a further escalation in violence
Police in Hong Kong have warned the rule of law has been pushed to the "brink of total collapse" after more than five months of protests. The warning came a day after the territory saw an escalation in violence, with police shooting one activist. A pro-Beijing supporter was also set on fire by anti-government protesters. Demonstrators continued to clash with police on Tuesday in the central business district and at universities. We get the latest.
Also, we hear from a firefighter in Australia as bushfires devastate vast areas of the country's east coast, including parts of Sydney's suburbs. It is one of the nation's worst ever bushfires.
And a video that shows police assaulting a student in Kenya has gone viral and reopened a conversation about police brutality in the country.
