Risking your life to defend the environment

The Philippines is the deadliest country for people defending their land and environment.

The Philippines has been named as the deadliest country for people trying to defend their land, environment or indigenous groups, according to NGO Global witness. 164 people across the world were killed in 2018. We speak to people in the countries which are most dangerous for environmental defenders.

Also, the number of people killed in a prison riot in Brazil has now risen to 57. Gang members from one prison block invaded another part of Altamira jail in ParĂ¡ state. 16 of the dead had been decapitated. We speak to our reporter who's following the story.
