We're live in Washington as the vote on Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination is due

We're live in Washington DC ahead of the vote on Brett Kavanaugh's US Supreme Court nomination. He's President Donald Trump's pick for the role. The vote will follow Thursday's testimony by Mr Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused him of sexual assault. We get more analysis ahead of the vote.

And the leaders of Germany and Turkey have agreed to try to improve their strained relationship, even though serious differences remain on a number of issues. At a tense news conference, Chancellor Angela Merkel said the two sides had a different concept of a free, democratic society, while President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for the extradition of his opponents living in Germany.
