The United Nations says up to 200 thousand people are in desperate need of aid following the earthquake and tsunami. Rescue teams are calling for heavy lifting equipment, and more qualified staff, to search for survivors. There's also growing anger over Indonesia's response to the disaster.
Leading scientists are meeting in South Korea to see if global temperatures can be kept from rising by more than 1.5C this century. The world has already passed one degree of warming as carbon emissions have ballooned since the 1850s.
The moon samples collected by astronauts on the Apollo missions have been analysed by a team of scientists. They hope to learn more about the composition of the moon, and about volcanic activity on earth.
