The UK’s home secretary Amber Rudd has resigned, saying she "inadvertently misled" MPs over targets for removing illegal immigrants. Ms Rudd, who was due to make a Commons statement on Monday, was under pressure to quit over the Windrush scandal.
Several hundred Central American migrants are preparing to cross the Mexican border and enter the United States to claim asylum. They are the remaining members of a caravan of 1,500 people who set off for the US at the end of March, organised by the migrant pressure group Pueblo Sin Fronteras.
