UN Casts Doubts On Rohingya Repatriation Plan

Bangladesh and Myanmar want to start repatriating Rohingya refugees next month

A senior official from the UN refugee agency, Volker Turk, has expressed doubts as to whether the proposed timetable for the return of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar is realistic. The first repatriations, under an agreement between Bangladesh and Myanmar, are due to start in January.

In his Christmas Eve message the Pope urged the world not to ignore those "driven from their land".
