
Militias Surround C.A.R Church
Thousands have been displaced in Central African Republic violence
2000 people in the Central African Republic are trapped in a church compound surrounded by armed militias. They are all Muslims displaced by violence, who have found temporary refuge in the seminary in a small town called Bangassou. The story illustrates the reality of the C.A.R, a country unable to break the cycle of violence.
Monsoon rains have killed at least five people, including two toddlers, in Mumbai as India's financial capital ground to a halt under flooding. The rains in Mumbai follow devastating floods across a swathe of South Asia, which have killed more than 1,200. More rain is expected.
Patients could be recruited for the first clinical trial of a stem cell treatment for Parkinson's disease before the end of next year. Parkinson's disease is a condition in which parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years. The symptoms include involuntary shaking, slow movement and stiff and inflexible muscles.
