Brian McGuire built his own optical services business in Glasgow over several years before he became intrigued by the concept of helping business start-ups.
When his friend Jim Duffy started planning Entrepreneurial Spark, he became co-founder.
Brian paid his own way through a tailored course at Babson College, Massachusetts, and now mentors numerous eSpark "chicklets" as they travel the entrepreneurial road.
He and Jim run "ideation" sessions and intensive meetings with the chicklets which scrutinise progress relentlessly.
The company ethos is that would-be entrepreneurs should accelerate their process in order to establish whether or not their business will succeed. It is just as important to "fail quickly" if the business just doesn't live up to its potential.
