Meet Katie McGlynn

She's all about the glitter. Luckily she's come to the right show!

This soap star is ready to put on the performance of a lifetime as she joins the Strictly family!

Secretly, I've always wanted to be a dancer.

Katie broke into acting at the age of 16, landing her first role as Jodie 'Scout' Allen in drama Waterloo Road. After three series, she made the move to long-running soap Coronation Street, taking on the role of Sinead Tinker for seven years. Katie's soap success won her a 2020 National Television Award and BAFTA nomination for her heartbreaking cervical cancer storyline.

She's also starred in TV dramas Moving on and The Syndicate, most recently joining the cast of Hollyoaks in July of this year. Outside of acting, Katie is passionate about her charity work and is a long-standing patron of Mummy's Star - a charity that supports women and families dealing with cancer in and around pregnancy.

Now she's taking on the role of dancing queen in the Strictly Ballroom, but can Katie deliver an award-winning performance? "Secretly, I've always wanted to be a dancer. I've always admired dancers but I've just never had the time to get into it," she said. "I fell in love with acting when I was younger and that's the road that I took, so I’m now living out a childhood dream!"

What can we say, Katie? Strictly dreams do come true!
