Dan Walker

Making the move from sports to sparkles, it's the delightful Dan Walker!

His successful career in sports reporting began in Sheffield, where he started out on student and local radio stations before moving to Manchester to join another local radio outlet. He soon made his move into TV, working as a sports presenter for Granada TV, ITV and BBC, later heading to London to cover key events such as Wimbledon, The Grand National, Royal Ascot and 6 Nations. His on-screen success led him to join the Football Focus team in 2009, where he remained as a core presenter until earlier this year.

Dan can currently be seen on our screens most mornings as the lead co-anchor of BBC Breakfast, having joined the team in 2016, as well regularly hosting Match of the Day and presenting The NFL Show. Outside of sport, Dan's authored three books, with his latest compilation of inspiring stories - entitled Remarkable People - published in October 2020.

But now it's time for him to trade football chat for choreography convos, and it sounds like he's got some strong Strictly alumni right behind him. "I know and have spoken to Jason Bell, Ranvir Singh, Mike Bushell, Naga Munchetty, Carol Kirkwood... so I’m prepared!" he said. "... they just told me to enjoy it and that I’m perfect for the show as I don’t take myself too seriously. They’ve all really encouraged me."
