Andrew Weatherall
Prepared to be wowed and taken on an electronic journey through sound
We're delighted Andrew Weatherall, someone who's become synonymous with the 6 Mix, has agreed to continue as a Resident in our new line up playing the eclectic range only he cane from Techno to Dub, IDM and Downbeat tracks wrapped up in the history of Madchester.
After being spotted DJing in North London by Danny Rampling, he was invited along with Terry Farley to be a resident at Rampling's infamous Shoom night. His reputation grew, and with it he began to increase his productions, remixing the likes of New Order, Bjork and Manic Street Preachers as well as winning the first ever Mercury Music Prize for his work with Primal Scream on Screamadelica all helping him to become one of the most highly respected figures in British electronic music.
Over the years on BBC 6 Music he's recollected about making that album with Bobby Gillespie and co, co-hosted with artists such as Adrian Sherwood and spun all vinyl specials, always ensuring he draws on old gems you've never heard before, or had forgotten about and mixing them in with the best new, experimental and boundary pushing dance music being produced from all corners of the map.
