Murray Crozier
Murray Crozier’s life has been fraught with pain and heartache.
After his wife died suddenly he was left to raise two teenage kids alone and he’s been unable to find a true love that lasts.
Murray worked as a teacher - a job he loved and was brilliant at, inspiring even the most disinterested and disruptive pupils who became his specialty. He took early retirement from teaching and - equipped with a good pension and the chance to spend more time on his outdoor hobbies - he ended up applying for the job of Community Centre Manager in Shieldinch.
His arrival caught the attention of Eileen Donachie who took an instant dislike to him but animosity quickly turned to attraction.
However, it soon became clear that Eileen wasn’t his perfect match – her sister, Gina, was far better suited to the mild-mannered Murray.
Never affectionate or inspirational with his own kids, Murray has instead thrown himself into other community-minded pursuits - adult literacy classes and charitable causes.
All of this serves as a convenient distraction from dealing with his own shortcomings and it wasn’t long before Gina grew tired of good guy Murray, falling into the arms of Jack Paterson.
However, an unlikely liaison with Dr Miriam Stubbs brought a new lease of life to Murray.
But Gina remained Murray’s Achilles heel until she almost duped him out of his life savings. Hurt by her deception, Murray turned his back on Gina – for good.
