Raymond Henderson

For all the jokes and carry-on, Raymond has a tendency to take himself very seriously indeed.

Raymond is a lot softer in the middle than he would like people to believe. His first great love was Eileen Donachie. Childhood sweethearts, the pair married but it ended after Eileen’s affair with Lewis Cope.

Second wife, Roisin Macintyre, was more than a match for Raymond. Secrets and lies spelled the end of their marriage and Raymond found comfort in the arms of Shona – Roisin’s sister.

The relationship divided opinion but the pair won everyone round and they finally married. The only trouble was Shona was a bigamist, leaving Raymond broken-hearted. Enter gold-digger Sharon who took Raymond to the cleaners, losing his beloved Tall Ship pub to Lenny Murdoch.

He rekindled his romance with Shona but their happiness was short-lived after she died following a short battle with a brain tumour. Raymond vowed to get back The Tall Ship in Shona's memory – and he did.

History repeated itself when Raymond and Eileen had a drunken one night stand, resulting in their son, Stuart.

Raymond finally thought he had a second chance at happiness but then gangster Sean Kennedy set his sights on the Tall Ship and bled Raymond dry. The final dramatic straw came when his nephew, Deek was killed in a hit-and-run accident by a gloating Sean before Raymond sought murderous revenge.

Increasingly fixated by the regeneration project led by Councillor Frank Paton, Raymond’s principles are driving him to expose corruption but at what cost?
