Children wait months to see NHS orthodontist

Dental staffing issues leads to some children missing vital NHS orthodontic appointments.

A number of parents have told BBC CWR their children haven't been seen by an NHS orthodontist in Coventry for months after having their braces fitted.
BBC CWR spoke to several parents, none of whom wanted to use their real names over concerns it could affect their relationship with their dentist at Torcross Dental Practice.
Sarah's 15 year-old daughter hasn't been seen since last October.
A spokesperson for Torcross Dental, said: "Like many clinics across the sector, we occasionally face recruitment challenges following the departure of our orthodontist late last year. “Due to wider challenges in securing orthodontists, it took several weeks to appoint a replacement specialist.
“We regret the impact this transition has had on some patients and any inconvenience caused. A new orthodontist has now been appointed, with all outstanding cases either completed or scheduled, and we remain fully committed to delivering the highest standards of care and patient support.”
