'It is still a good industry to get involved in'
Rob Flello, Chief Executive of Ceramics UK, on the latest news in the ceramics industry. Wedgwood, based in Barlaston, announced in a statement released last week by the company's owners that workers at the factory will focus on high-end, hand-crafted products going forward, but some jobs will go as a result.
The news has come as a shock, just a month after workers returned to the factory following a 90-day stoppage over Christmas. A 30-day consultation is being held between Wedgwood's owners, its workforce and the trade unions over the proposed redundancies.
Rob Flello reacts to the news, and discusses what could be done to aid the industry going forward.
