Waiting times cut for cancer diagnosis

There's been a big improvement in the time people are waiting for a cancer diagnosis.

According to figures from Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust up to November 2025, nearly 86% of people were diagnosed - or had cancer ruled out - within four weeks. The national target is 80%.

It marks a dramatic turnaround from a year ago, when the Trust was ranked last in the country for meeting the 28‑day Faster Diagnosis Standard. It is now the second‑best performing Trust in England.

Chief Operating Officer, Ned Hobbs, has been speaking to BBC Radio Shopshire's Ellen Knight.
