Girl with rare brain disease 'fighting like hell'
Sienna Dunion is 4 years old and a couple of weeks ago she was diagnosed with a condition called Acute Necrotising Encephalitis. It's something that's triggered by the flu or Covid-19 and it affects the brain. Little Sienna has a long road to recovery ahead of her.
Her dad Gary used to play for Harborough Town, and to help his family through this crisis he set up a GoFundMe page just a few days ago. In the first 7 days, that GoFundMe appeal has raised more than 100 thousand pounds towards her support in a specialist neuro-rehabilitation centre.
BBC Leicester’s Ben Jackson spoke to Gary about how this gesture from his local community was getting him through some very dark times.
