Iconic Leeds pub reopens after 5 years
After years of neglect following its closure in March 2020, one of the city’s most cherished pubs has been brought back to life. ‘The Victoria & Commercial’ has been reopened to the public, 160 years after it first welcomed guests.
Originally built as a hotel to serve visitors to the nearby courts and Town Hall, the venue became a local favourite known simply as ‘The Vic’. The revival began in January 2024 when Kirkstall Brewery and Whitelock’s announced plans to restore the historic pub, where they uncovered original features and reinstated the iconic interior. Amber Ward went along to have a look around.
