BRM dropped out of Formula One in the 70s but they set Britain on the way to being a global centre of motorsport.
Part 3: A lasting British motorsport legacy
Founded in 1950 by Raymond Mays in Bourne, BRM were the one of the top Formula One teams of the 1960s, but by the end of the 1970s had dropped out of the sport. However, their legacy as the first all-British F1 team remains with Britain now a global centre of motorsport.
In 2025 there have been a series of events to mark BRM's 75th anniversary with the sons and grandsons of former team principal Sir Alfred Owen now the directors of BRM Limited, custodians of the team name and not only celebrating the past but looking to inspire future engineering.
