Is new film based on Huddersfield Choral Society?
Yorkshire choir believe that they may be the inspiration for the new Alan Bennett film.
Gaynor Haliday from the Huddersfield Choral Society chats to Gayle Lofthouse about the similarities between the fictional choir at the heart of the new Alan Bennett film and their own choir.
Founded in 1836, the Huddersfield Choral Society is one of the oldest established large choirs in the world and has won an international reputation well beyond its West Yorkshire roots. They even invited the famed composer Elgar to conduct the choral society once, an experience he was said to have enjoyed.
