The Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is announcing sweeping reforms to the UK's asylum policy.
The changes include fast-tracking the deportation of illegal migrants, an overhaul of human rights law and plans to end multiple appeals against removal.
The government says it will "restore order and control" at UK borders, but sources told the BBC that some ministers have expressed concerns about the plans.
The Conservatives say while the plans are "small steps perhaps in the right direction", they contain "lots of gimmicks".
