Deputy Leader: Council 'running out of cash'
Councillor Rob Wharton says Worcestershire County Council's finances are 'in a mess' following the council being handed a rare financial warning by auditors.
Its budget deficit for SEND pupils surged to £98million in 2024, prompting a Section 24 Notice to be issues.
The Reform leadership is trying to save money by scrapping plans for a new high school in Worcester, but suffered a blow at after Conservative, Labour, Green and Lib Dem councillors voted to block the move, leaving the £60m scheme’s future in limbo.
