59. Peggy Past and Present, with Libby Purves, Kate and Phoebe
Emma Freud discusses the sizeable legacy of the late Peggy Woolley with her grand-daughter Kate (played by Perdita Avery) and great grand-daughter Phoebe (played by Lucy Morris).
Emma Freud is joined by Libby Purves, Perdita Avery, who plays Kate, and Lucy Morris, who plays Phoebe. They discuss Peggy's magnificent matrilineal legacy and how much attitudes have changed since Peggy's arrival in Ambridge in 1951. Libby Purves gives listeners a whistle-stop tour of the escapades of Peggy's descendants, including affairs and divorces, pregnancies planned and otherwise, and a jilting at the altar. Libby calls it the 'sexual rewilding' of Ambridge.
Perdita and Lucy discuss Kate and Phoebe's mother-daughter relationship, and revisit some of their awkward moments.
