'King of Essex' pub opens in Basildon

One of the country's largest Wetherspoons pubs has opened its doors in Basildon, creating more than 70 new jobs. Named after Sigered, who was the last king of Essex, the venue replaces The Moon on the Square which closed in late 2022.

The pub is on East Square in Basildon, which has been part of a £25 million re-devlopment of the town centre, but what do Basildon shoppers think about the new addition to their high street?
