David Toes was 26 when he investigated the string of burglaries and sex attacks in 1984. Malcolm Fairley, who was eventually caught and sentenced to life in prison, struck across Beds, Herts and Bucks, including Tring, Cheddington, Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes.
