Newbury flooding: "we were in a desperate situation"
River levels on parts of the Thames set new record highs on the first weekend of January. Despite the mainly dry weather, the Environment Agency still had numerous flood warnings in force across Berkshire.
Sami Gabriel lives by the River Lambourn, in the Shaw area of Newbury. His garden and outbuildings have flooded and he been using pumps to try to protect his home.
