How a Sydenham chicken shop became a cult brand
Morley’s began as a humble family run business, a fried chicken shop on Sydenham high street that opened in 1985 which quickly became a favourite for locals.
It was founded by Sri-Lankan born entrepreneur Kannalingam "Indran" Selvendran.
Today the business has acquired cult status, counting celebrities including Stormzy and Krept as fans and expanded from the capital to across the UK.
Current owner Shan Selvendran, who took over the business from his late father, spoke to BBC Radio London’s Saadeya Shamsuddin about the brand’s appeal and how its success is down to the loyalty from their beloved South London community.
