Jane Horrocks: #MeToo “has made a massive difference"
Actress Jane Horrocks tells Stephen Sackur that when the #MeToo movement first started it seemed “too much”, adding “it was absolutely right that it was too much.”
She says, “When the Me Too movement did happen it seemed a bit extreme for possibly people of my generation of actors because we had put up with it for so long. But then thinking about it – gosh this is really relevant.”
Describing the campaign as “such a brilliant thing that has happened”, she explains the impact on working conditions for actors saying “if anything like that happens it’s not covered up, you can speak openly about things, and that’s made a massive difference.”
British actress Jane Horrocks is best known for her comedy performance as Bubble in the BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, and for her Golden Globe and BAFTA nominated lead role role in the film version of Little Voice.
