Coventry Repair Café
Once a month at Coventry's Central Library the team at the Coventry Repair Café give their time to repair household items including appliances, battery operated toys, soft furnishings and clothes. Members of the public simply bring their items along bwteen 10am - 12pm. An assessment is carried out as to whether the team feel they have the skills that day to help. Items are then added to a queuing system and more often than not members of the public go home with their newly repaired item. Items that need a longer fix will be taken apart ready to re-assemble at the next repair café and sadly sometimes items are beyond repair. The team are always on the lookout for new volunteers who are good at fixing things, organiser Martin Bryant who runs the groups says it means they'll be able to carry out more repairs.
BBC CWR"s Marian McNamee went along to a recent session, armed with a 1970's computer game in need of some tlc.
