Sara Cox
On Saturday Devon's Sara Cox became the English Rugby Premiership’s first female referee, taking charge of reigning champions Harlequins’ clash with Worcester at Twickenham Stoop stadium.
She played rugby for Exeter, Cullompton and Plymouth Albion, and had trials for England U-21s. But at the age of 17, she decided to retire from playing the sport after an injury, and took up refereeing instead.
